Hi, I’m Paul.
I am a physician-scientist and academic anesthesiologist dedicated to improving patient outcomes. I work in the Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston).
Clinical Interests
My areas of clinical focus include neuroanesthesia, trauma anesthesia, and complex airway management.
Clinical Research
My research spans two core domains:
- Innovative analyses of electronic medical records and large datasets using advanced statistical methods, including machine learning, artificial intelligence, and Bayesian techniques
- Design and execution of rigorous prospective clinical trials
By harmonizing these complementary approaches to clinical research, I aim to generate high-quality evidence to reduce acute organ injury, improve pain management, and advance patient-centered outcomes research.
Additionally, I am heavily involved in supporting clinical quality improvement, promoting value-based care, and advancing translational research from the bench to the bedside through data-driven approaches.
